VacuTight™ Fittings & Union

• Provide air-tight connections under vacuum and low pressure conditions
• Perfect for high throughput screening applications
• Many designed for tight space cluster use

Our VacuTight Fittings are specially designed to provide air-tight tubing connections under both vacuum and low pressure conditions. In addition, many VacuTight nuts are designed for use in applications where many nuts are used in close proximity. Therefore, these products are ideally suited for the high throughput screening instrumentation used for combinatorial chemistry and diagnostics applications, as well as for other lab robotics.

NOTE: These VacuTight nuts must be used exclusively with our VacuTight ferrules. (Each 10-pack of nuts comes with a 10-pack of appropriate ferrules; replacement nuts and ferrules can be ordered separately as well.) Additionally, you can use any of the 10-32 fittings listed in "Family Parts" to make an inline connection with the P-845-01 VacuTight Union.

The headless style nuts can be tightened by hand or with our P-297, Headless Nut Extender Tool. With this or any wrench, we recommend tightening no more than 1/2 turn past finger tight.

VacuTight fittings for 1/16" OD tubing (the P-840 ferrule/P-938 nut) tested to 25 inches of mercury for vacuum and the following pressures:
  • 400 psi (27 bar) using .020" ID PFA tubing
  • 800 psi (55 bar) using .010" ID ETFE (Tefzel®) tubing .
VacuTight fittings for 1/8" OD tubing (the P-940 ferrule/P-948 nut) tested to 25 inches of mercury for vacuum and the following pressures:
  • 500 psi (34 bar) using .062" ID PFA tubing
  • 1,000 psi (69 bar) using .062" ID Tefzel® (ETFE) tubing .
Use this information for reference only. Ratings are for the fittings, NOT the tubing. Tests were conducted with room temperature water. Your results may vary depending on nut, port and tubing materials, tubing diameters, chemical compatibility, etc. Nuts were finger tightened. In some cases, wrench tightening may improve results.
