NanoPort™ Assemblies
• For Lab-on-a-Chip applications
NanoPort Assemblies are the first products to provide consistent fluid connections for Lab-on-a-Chip devices. These fittings bond easily to chip surfaces with provided preformed adhesive rings and clamp (see NanoPort Cure Requirements below). Once attached, NanoPort connections withstand pressures to 1,500 psi (103 bar), except the N-333 for 1/16" OD tubing which is rated at 500 psi (34 bar). NanoPorts will adhere to silicon, quartz and glass, and they will handle 1.5 – 6.0 in.-lbs. (0.17 N-m to 0.68 N-m) of torque, depending on the substrate (typical fittings require only .25 – .50 in-lbs. to tighten).
NanoPort components are made of inert, biocompatible PEEK™ polymer and perfluoroelastomer (the N-333 includes a Tefzel® ETFE ferrule). And the design of these products eliminates the risk of adhesive contamination in the fluid path. Furthermore, NanoPort connections add no additional volume to a fluid path — eliminating dead volume normally associated with chip-based connections.
Choose from several options to direct connect 360µm, 510µm, 1/32" and 1/16" OD tubing (see diagram below). Or use our N-125H or N-125S to connect capillary tubing from 70 to 520µm using the appropriate MicroTight® Tubing Sleeve. Our NanoPort Reservoir Assembly is designed for open-well applications such as CE.
Custom NanoPort configurations are available to OEMs, including multiport manifolds, alternative thermoplastics, special sizing and specific reservoir volumes. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Application Notes:
Flushing/Priming and Sample Injection
- To connect tubing for flushing/priming operations, use F-121H or F-122H Nut with the NanoPort Reservoir Assembly. Tighten the selected nut and appropriate ferrule into the 10-32 threaded Reservoir Insert to connect your choice of 360µm, 510µm or 1/32” OD tubing. (Please click “Compare Specs” for more information on matching the appropriate nuts and ferrules with chip-hole sizes and tubing ODs.) To connect 1/16” OD tubing, use a 10-32 flat-bottom fitting such as our P-844 VacuTight™.
-
For sample injection, tighten an M-432-03 Micro Injection Tubing/ Fitting Assembly (a sub component of our Micro Injection Port Adapters) into our N-333 10-32 Coned NanoPort Assembly (you will not need the supplied F-333N Fittings for this application). Once installed, introduce sample with any standard 22-gauge Hamilton-style injection syringe needle.
